Crazy Week Two in The NFL
By Anonymous
So what is to be made of this crazy week two in the 2007 NFL season. We have the New England Patriots destroying the so called best team in the league, being the Chargers. The Cleveland Browns of all teams put up over 50 points in a game that featured over 1,000 offensive yards between both teams. Larry Johnson and L.T. both have yet to have a 100 yards rushing in a game. Those are just a few of the storylines unfolding this season.
A few questions are really getting to me that I cannot answer nor can really anybody, but they still fun to think about. Like who will be the sleeper 2-0 team to make the playoffs. Right now the 49er's, Packers, and Texans are all unbeaten, all of which did not have winning records last season. I would have to go with the Packers on this one, with Brett Favre and a youthful defense that is really starting to click they seem like the best out of that trio.
Are the Patriots really this good? Illegal videotaping or not they look like the best team in the league from every angle. There offense is proving to be deadly enough now to rival that of the Colts, their defense is playing at Super Bowl caliber. Oh yea not to mention that guy they picked up from the Ravens, you know Adalius Thomas, he already scored a defensive touchdown.
Not to mention that they returned a kickoff last weekend that set a new NFL record for the longest touchdown. Personally I despise the Pats, which is only natural being a Dolphins fan, but still I cannot take away the fact that they look like the best team in the league right now.
Then there are a few disappointments that must be addressed. First what is the deal with L.T. and L.J. not posting monster numbers. So which of these guys will be the first to get a 100 yard game? San Diego has to play Green Bay's tough new D next week, and the Chiefs are playing the Vikings. Which has one of the best run defenses in the league. I'd put my money on L.T., I mean c'mon he is the 2006 league MVP.
Another major disappointment is the New Orleans Saints. I can understand the first game when they lost 41-10 to a dynamite Colts team coming fresh off a Super Bowl victory, but to get wacked around by the Buc's. A team they had a field day twice with last year. I gotta admit they got me kind of worried, especially considering I have Drew Brees and Deuce McAllister on my fantasy team. Will they get their act together and get back into the winning column in 2007? Hard to say, but I sure as hell hope so.
Anyone reading this post with knowledge or love of the NFL feel free to add in you two sense to the questions above and drop a comment. I always love when other fans contest my football knowledge.
And lets try to play nice ;)
