Have You Time For Retirement Activities?

By

Now you are retiring you'll have lot's of time for retirement activities - I don't believe it for one moment. All my life I've had lots of hobbies. So now that I'm no longer working, I should be able to fit in all the hobbies that I want. Right? Wrong! Oh, all the time that was tied up when I had a job is now available for me to use. The trouble is that as one author put it - work expands to fill the time available.

Ever since I discovered the fun of writing...half a century ago...I've enjoyed doing what I'm doing now. But I haven't spent any time today learning my barbershop singing songs, and I have a rehearsal tonight.

The snails have been eating my pawpaw seedlings, so I've bent copper wire into a flat spiral round two ballpoint pens, then slid the resulting flattened tube off, and placed it round the trunk of a pawpaw tree. Then repeated. That seems to be keeping the snails at bay, but the weeds are taller than I am now. Perhaps I'll spend an hour or so pulling out weeds, but I don't want to be too tired to dance about on the stage during the barbershop rehearsal tonight.

At least it won't be so tiring to continue working on a crochet pattern that I'm designing as I go along. It is a Celtic knotwork pattern, if you happen to know what that is, and I've never seen any crochet patterns for it, so I'm making up my own.

This is one of sixteen articles that I want to get written this weekend, so can I really spare the time to do anything to my crochet pattern? And I have to start thinking about doing the Church newsletters for the next couple of weeks. I use Publisher for the desktop publishing bit, so it is easy enough, but it still takes time.

At least I'll have Monday to work on my articles, because I gave up my volunteer bus driving several months ago to give me more time for my other interests. I would dearly love to get back to having a German Shepherd bitch and training her for obedience competitions, but it would interfere with all my other interests.

Help! Does anyone have a time machine? I need one for my retirement activities.
