Web Dating Over 40 - The 7 Big Don'ts

By

I'm sure you know that in web dating like anything else there are do's and don'ts. Well, here are the 7 big don'ts if you're thinking of getting into web dating over the age of 40.

  1. Don't lie about your age. There's no point. They will find out anyway and be disappointed. The last thing you want is for them to be disappointed. You want to surprise them in good ways only. Put your real age so that when they meet you, the first thing they will think is how much younger you look.
  2. Don't use an old photo. Anything from more than 6 months ago is too old. And if you changed your hairstyle recently, you need a new photo. You don't want them being disappointed because they liked your hair better the way it was in the photo.
  3. If you're a member of several internet dating sites, don't use the same username for them all. Some people will check out all the sites to see if you're a member, and if you're on more than two or three, it looks bad. More than 10 will seriously frighten them!
  4. Don't complain or use a lot of negative words in your profile. Most people want to meet someone who is happy, not desperate. So although we tend to join dating sites when we're feeling low or lonely, wait until you're feeling good to write your profile.
  5. Don't meet your dates in intimate surroundings. The internet dating site will warn you to meet in a public place for safety, but as well as that, it is best if the first date is not too heavy with expectation. The best date is something that gives you a chance to talk, but also gives you plenty of excuses to get away early if you want to. Lunch can be better for that than dinner.
  6. Don't have your date pick you up, and don't offer to pick up your date. It is best if you both take your own cars, so that either one of you can leave whenever you want.
  7. Don't go to a movie on your first few dates. First, there could be embarrassing scenes in it that will make at least one of you want to run screaming from the theater. Second, a movie gives you no chance to get to know each other. Save the movies until you know each other well enough to find one that you know you will both like.

Getting back into dating can be a great adventure if you follow these simple tips. Good luck with your web dating!
