Internet Dating For Men -- Safety

By Kerry Graylor

You may have assumed that all of the information about internet dating safety was for the girls. But men should also consider their safety when getting into online dating. Psychopaths, sexual predators and general weirdos come in the female form as well as the male. And anybody can pretend to be anybody at all, online.

You know not to give out a lot of personal information to strangers on the internet. You are surely aware of the phishing scams that go on, and how you must keep financial information as well as your personal address, strictly to reputable agencies. Online you may meet someone who quickly gives you their personal information in an attempt to get you to reveal yours. Don't.

You don't know why they want it - but you can be sure there is a reason, and it is not a reason that you will like. Keep a hold on your last name, your address, and your place of employment. If you give out a phone number, it is best if it is one that you can easily change. Some people even buy a cheap cellphone specifically for use on the internet.

Be careful of women who seem needy financially. If she's upfront about not having much money but seems fine with that, then it's okay. But if she is hinting that she needs a loan or a financial gift, do not give it and do not see her again. She is probably looking for money online, not for love.

If a woman gives you a telephone number but you can never reach her there, this could be a bad sign. If you leave messages and she calls you back, be cautious. Of course it may just be that she is wary of answering her phone to strangers, but once you have spoken a couple of times and she knows your number, she should start to answer.

If a woman will never speak to you on the telephone but sends you texts or emails in response to your phone messages, then beware. 'She' may not be a woman at all, and cannot risk letting you hear 'her' voice. It could be a gay man acting out a fantasy and wasting your time and emotional energy, or it could be someone trying to get you to reveal personal information or commit to some financial transaction. Either way, you should move on.

Understanding women can be the key to happiness with internet dating. Get a hold of some good dating information and increase your chances of success!
