Increase Your Immune System With Vitamin C
By Riley Henderson
If you are looking for a vitamin that increases your immune system and helps prevent many diseases, then vitamin C a good choice. I believe it is pretty common knowledge that it can be found in many kinds of juices and in supplement form. And I think it is safe to assume that we all know you can get it from oranges. But did you know it is also found in broccoli, cauliflower, lemon juice, mustard greens, papaya and parsley?
Vitamin C deficiency is common today due to poor diet and an increase in alcoholism. Unexplained weakness, swollen gums and nosebleeds are all symptoms you have a deficiency. Because it is so common and associated with good health, people often take large doses to compensate for 'missed' days. However, past research has shown there is no advantage to these mega doses.
Your body requires vitamin C to stay strong and healthy. Tendons and ligaments are strengthened by it. It can also be used with vitamin E to increase the overall health of your body. Vitamin C and E make a strong combination.
Vitamin C can also help protect your skin from the damage UV rays can cause. It can also help recover and reverse damage of the skin caused from radiation. I have found that my skin feels better after taking vitamin C every day. I have also read that taking vitamin C and E together helps your skin to heal faster.
An easy way to get all of the Vitamin C you need it to drink a glass of orange juice for breakfast and another before bedtime. Yup, just like Grandma used to tell you. Or if like me, you love oranges, a few a day is all that is needed.
If you want to get an extra boost you can always take a vitamin supplement. But buyer beware, you should always read the labels to see how much vitamin C is in the supplement. I used to take one large tablet a day until I found I could take two small tablets and have the same or greater amount. I have trouble swallowing the large pills so this was a great find for me.
Since I started taking Vitamin C and E each day, I feel healthier and more importunately I have not been sick in over a year. While you may have different results, I am confident you will see benefits if you make vitamin C a part of your daily routine.
